Jason B. Godwin

Jason B. Godwin is the founding member of the Godwin Law Group. Mr. Godwin is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Washington D.C. Bar, the State Bar of Alabama, and the State Bar of Tennessee.
Mr. Godwin has experience in trying cases both in State and Federal courts in all these locations.

Mr. Godwin obtained an undergraduate degree in International Affairs from the Georgia Institute of Technology. During that time, Mr. Godwin was a letterman on the Georgia Tech football team.
Mr. Godwin later earned a Master’s degree from Georgia Tech in Public Policy, while serving on the Georgia Tech football staff.

In 2002, Mr. Godwin began attending the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University where he was in the top 15% of his first year class. He then transferred to the Georgia State University School of Law where he ultimately obtained his Juris Doctor degree.

During his litigation career, Mr. Godwin represented his clients in the Magistrate, State and Superior Courts of the entire State of Georgia and has been lead counsel in litigation throughout all the states in which he is admitted to practice. Mr. Godwin has successfully represented clients in seven (10) jury trials. He has also helped many through both voluntary mediations and binding arbitrations. Mr. Godwin has vast experience in representing both plaintiffs and defendants in many different areas of litigation, including, but not limited to, securities fraud, general civil and corporate litigation, tort claims, lender and foreclosure related litigation, wrongful death, contracts, estate litigation and landlord/tenant disputes.

Godwin Law Group

The Godwin Law Group was founded on the principles of helping people and businesses of all sizes navigate through the often unchartered waters of legal issues. Many of our clients have had little experience in litigation or legal issues. We place an emphasis on explaining complex legal matters to our clients in a simple and easy to understand fashion. This allows us to fully understand our client’s goals in resolving or dealing with their legal issue.

The Godwin Law Group strives to provide these services in a unique way, by putting the client first. The Godwin Law Group understands that clients often view legal issues with trepidation and instantly worry about the cost of quality legal representation. However, through a close relationship with our clients we are often able to obtain the desired result in an efficient and inexpensive fashion.

For the previous seven (7) years, Mr. Godwin has represented several of the South’s largest banks. Mr. Godwin has been successfully involved in financial institution related litigation and work out matters. Throughout this period, Mr. Godwin has become well versed in dealing with lenders and the problems that might arise out of this relationship. Mr. Godwin has brought hundreds of lawsuits (on behalf of financial institution clients) to enforce the various terms of lending agreements and/or mortgages and has defended lenders in wrongful foreclosure actions.

In addition, the Godwin Law Group can provide all types of lending, special asset work and litigation advice to financial institutions. The Godwin Law Group has over 10 years of experience in closing residential loans, commercial loans, SBA based loans, and other types of lending arrangements.
